Jake Facey serves as the Head Equipment Manager for Clarkson University Women’s Ice Hockey, bringing valuable hands-on expertise in gear performance, maintenance, and athlete preferences. With years of experience supporting elite athletes at the NCAA Division I and USA Hockey levels, Jake contributed critical insight to Slice Guard's development — advising on material selection, product design, performance, and overall appearance. Marc Compeau is the Reh Family Professor of Entrepreneurship Practice at Clarkson University and a lead advisor in the development of Slice Guard. With a distinguished career guiding student entrepreneurs from concept to launch, Marc played an instrumental role in shaping both the business and product strategy behind Slice Guard. His mentorship helped steer the company through early-stage ideation, market validation, and business model refinement. He also helped kickstart the IP process. Marc’s extensive experience in entrepreneurship education and his commitment to empowering student-led ventures have been critical to Slice Guard’s growth and direction. Lexi Johnson is an MBA candidate at Clarkson University and student entrepreneur in the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship at Clarkson University, where Slice Guard was strategically developed in preparation for launch. As a mentor throughout the spring semester, Lexi played a hands-on role in refining Slice Guard’s business model, marketing strategy, and launch execution. She also served as a key advisor during the New York State Business Plan Competition, helping guide the brand to a first-place finish in the Safety, Power, and Mobility track. With her strong foundation in business development and passion for mentoring emerging entrepreneurs, Lexi has been instrumental in transforming Slice Guard from a classroom concept into a high-potential venture ready to impact the game.
Jared Mangan, forward for Clarkson University Men’s Hockey and former Lincoln Stars player in the USHL, played a key role in the early development of Slice Guard. With years of experience at elite levels, Jared offered valuable insight into equipment safety, fit, and comfort—helping shape a product designed for serious hockey players without sacrificing performance.
Jack Sparkes, a defenseman for Clarkson University and 2022 LA Kings draft pick, brought a valuable perspective to Slice Guard’s early development. A towering presence on the ice, Jack often felt exposed in vulnerable areas despite wearing top-tier, often custom, gear. His input helped guide the design toward better coverage and protection for players who put their bodies on the line every shift, like himself.
Luka Sukovic, a forward for Clarkson University and former AJHL MVP with the Bonnyville Pontiacs, brought personal experience to the development of Slice Guard. After taking a skate to the neck that required stitches while in Bonnyville, Luka became a strong advocate for better protection. His firsthand injury experience highlighted the urgent need for smarter safety solutions, helping influence the direction and purpose behind Slice Guard’s design.
